NEW ARTICLE - PedORTHO: driving better evidence-based care for pediatric fractures
“Surgeons can use this registry’s findings to benchmark care, refine indications, and guide evidence-based decisions for growing bones.”
A global initiative is transforming the evidence base for pediatric fracture care. The AO PedORTHO registry is the first worldwide effort to gather real-world data on how children’s fractures are treated across diverse health systems.
With nearly 1,000 participants enrolled at 17 sites in 12 countries, PedORTHO captures detailed clinical information as well as patient and parent-reported outcomes, offering a rare look at how treatments actually perform in everyday practice. The project aims to reduce major variations in care, identify which approaches lead to the best outcomes for growing bones, and ultimately guide more consistent, evidence-based decision-making for pediatric patients.
Data collection continues through 2026, with early epidemiological findings expected in the coming year.
