Congratulations to Duneesha De Silva, Recipient of the 2025 BCCHR Outstanding Achievement by a Master’s Student Award
The Hippy Lab is proud to celebrate Duneesha De Silva as the recipient of the 2025 BC Children’s Hospital Research Institute (BCCHR) Outstanding Achievement by a Master’s Student Award. This award recognizes exceptional research accomplishments and analytical skills that demonstrate the recipient’s potential as a future leader in the scientific community.
Duneesha first joined the Hippy Lab in 2021 as a co-op student and quickly became an integral member of the Mulpuri Research Team. She went on to complete her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Experimental Medicine at the University of British Columbia (UBC), with her graduate work focusing on the lived experiences of patients and families impacted by developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH).
During her time in the lab, Duneesha led focus group discussions with patients and caregivers to better understand their diverse care journeys. Her findings played a central role in establishing the Hippy Lab’s DDH patient and family partner advisory group, which now works alongside researchers to co-develop educational resources and guide research priorities.
Congratulations Duneesha, we’re so proud of you!
