Hippy Lab at the Canadian Orthopaedic Association Annual Meeting 2025
June 2025 | Vancouver, BC
Dr. Emily Schaeffer presents on the demographic and diagnostic characteristics of patients treated by closed reduction for developmental dysplasia of the hip under 4 months of age
Members of the Hippy Lab team had the honour of attending and presenting at the Canadian Orthopaedic Association (COA) Annual Meeting 2025, held this year in Vancouver. This national gathering brought together leading orthopedic surgeons, researchers, and clinicians to share knowledge, discuss innovations, and highlight progress in the field.
Our team contributed to several presentations and discussions throughout the conference, showcasing a range of impactful research projects. Highlights included but were not limited to:
Our ongoing work with the Global Hip Dysplasia Registry (GHDR), sharing multi-centre insights into pediatric hip outcomes and international collaboration
Updates on our Hip Surveillance Program, which continues to inform best practices for monitoring children with cerebral palsy and other neuromotor conditions
A new analysis on refracture rates following pediatric orthopedic surgery, offering important data to guide post-operative care and risk reduction strategies
One of our Work-Learn students, Christie Yang, also won the Anne Dzus Best Trainee Paper Presentation for her presentation on Mortality in a Cohort of Children with Cerebral Palsy Enrolled in Hip Surveillance that she presented at CPOS!
Beyond the podium, the conference was a valuable opportunity to engage with colleagues from across the country, exchange ideas, and represent the innovation and collaboration that drive our lab’s work.
Congratulations to all presenters and thank you to the COA for a fantastic event!
